The Peachland Bats
Future home of the Chamber of Commerce - The old schoolhouse on Beach Avenue!
The future home of the Chamber of Commerce in Peachland will be the old schoolhouse on Beach Avenue. It is under construction to house the Chamber of Commerce and the Boys and Girls Club.
One of the problems with this process are the bats that have been roosting in the roof for years. What were we going to do about the bats? This question came up and started a whole new adventure for the Peachland Chamber of Commerce.

Adopt A Bat Program
Initial planning of a Bat Station for the future interpretive centre at Peachland Primary school is underway. Consultation with educators from School District #23 will ensure targeted learning outcomes from Kindergarten to Grade 7 are net. Intern, Kelsey Chmilar is working on an interactive web play program for children. Wayne Power of Peachland Community Arts Council is working on Marketing materials.
The Chamber will introduce "Adopt A Bat" program to assist in preliminary and ongoing costs of the learning centre. Children and adults will be able to adopt a bat, name "your pet". and participate in a variety of hands on an electronic educational materials. Corporate sponsorships are also being sought to cover expenses of camera equipment and maintenance of The Roost. Please contact the Peachland Chamber if you are interested in becoming a sponsor.
Sponsorship Program
We have offered a sponsorship program to our corporate members and services clubs at three levels. A Gold Sponsor would contribute $2500, a silver sponsor would contribute $1500 and a Bronze sponser would contribute $500. With these funds, we were able to purchase our TV camera equipment and computer to install in the attic so that we can live stream to the internet. You will be able to log onto our web site to see and hear the activities of the Bats as they fly in and out of the "ROOST". With these funds, we are also starting our formal educational program where we will produce printed materials for not only our residents and visitors, but a program aimed at the Kindergarten to Grade seven students in the Okanagan Valley. Our Bat program will be both educational and tourism based. This is a unique opportunity for the promotion of Peachland.
A great big thank-you to our sponsors so far!
Gold: TNI
Silver: New Monaco
Bronze: Westside Curb Appeal, Regional District - Central Okanagan
